My wife and I had our wedding 2 weeks ago at Modern, and it’s hard to put into words how perfectly Lori (the manager) and her staff executed our big day. We were looking for a place that could fit 100 people, while still feeling intimate and Modern on the Rails did not disappoint. Food, drinks, service and most importantly atmosphere were top notch and gave us and our guests a special and unique experience compared to usual blank canvas wedding venues. I highly recommend this restaurant for a wedding, special party or even a perfect sit down dinner.

Modern on the Rails in Mamaroneck is a gem: gorgeous restored train station vibes and killer Italian food. The veal chop is insane: juicy, tender, perfectly cooked. But the real MVP is Jon, the host. Warm, hilarious, remembers everyone, and makes you feel like family from the second you walk in. He’s the reason you’ll keep coming back.
Food was phenomenal and server was attentive. I recommend you go if you enjoy a classy environment and delicious food.
Love the location, literally steps from the train so it's convenient for people to come visit from the city. The decor was very grand, I adore the large front doors and high ceiling. Service was very quick and nice, and didn't rush us at all. We'd ordered a chipotle calamari and they'd brought out the wrong order, when we told our waitress she was in the process of bringing out the right order. She'd realized it herself and taken action. The food was great, see pictures. Had a Chianti and those are always pleasing. Got a coffee to end the meal and even my friend who doesn't drink coffee said it was very good.
Serving delicious Italian food in a unique setting Modern in the Rails impressed at every opportunity. The Serving Staff was excellent, knowledgeable and friendly with on-point recommendations, and my water glass was never empty for more than a minute (a true rarity that speaks to their level of attention!). The food was everything one would hope to have- perfectly cooked and seasoned steaks, delicious pasta and vegetables (Scarpariello and Eggplant Rollantini being a favorite), and excellent wines (pictured Chianti being the favorite) make this a place that will elevate any evening!
My son and daughter-in-law had their wedding at Modern on the Rails in January! The ambience was beautiful and romantic and so quaint... What a phenomenal event! The food was extremely well prepared and presented. The wait staff could not do enough to serve you, and were extremely attentive.. All of our relatives and friends in attendance raved about what an exceptional wedding venue it was, and a wonderful time was had by all. We are so grateful to the manager, Lori for her hard work and dedication.. Yes, it was our family's wedding, but it really was a wedding to remember. 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Modern on the Rails was amazing in every way. Not sure why they picked the name "Modern on the Rails"... yes, they are on the railroad tracks, but the inside is beautiful and mostly original. The woodwork is beautiful. If you appreciate architecture and original structures you will really appreciate this place. The food was fantastic, and surprisingly large portions. Kootoos to the chef and kitchen staff. Service was good, and so were the drinks.
We were able to snag a table for two at the last minute with the help of a very accommodating hostess. We spent 10 minutes waiting at the bar, where the bartender was quick, efficient and friendly. Our table was a cozy (not cramped) corner booth for two and the seating was very comfy. Laraine was our sever and she was great. Attentive without intruding. Quick without being frantic. Excellent excellent service. The food was delicious and served hot. There is nothing that we would change about our visit except we should have tried this restaurant sooner!
Decided to go to modern on the rails for date night as was recommended by a friend of mine. The place was amazing. Nothing but amazing and excellent things to say. Not good or great but EXCELLENT and AMAZING. from the moment we were greated by the hostess to the moment we left. We orderd the classic calamari which was fantastic it wasn't rubbery like you get at most places and the mussels marina was excellent. For our entrees we had the brazino fish which my wife loved it was cooked to perfection abscess wasn't heavy at all. The grill veggies that came with it had the perfect char on them. I had the pork ossso bunch over risotto which I was reluctant to try but I'm glad I did. The pork shanks was a generous portion as well as delicious and presented in an elegant way over the wild mushroom risotto. When I go out in westchester again this is going to be one of the places I would go back to over and over again. Thank you modern on the rails! Also plenty of easy parking. We didn't get desert or coffee so I can't comment on that.
